U2 MATH PROBLEM

The situation
U2 has a concert on an island, which has only one bridge connecting it to the mainland. The bridge can hold only 2 people at a time. It is dark, so people crossing must carry a flashlight, but the group has only one. To cross, it takes lead singer Bono 1 minute, guitarist the Edge 2 minutes, bass player Adam Clayton five minutes and drummer Larry Mullen 10.

The problem
If 2 people cross at the same time, they travel at the slower person's rate. For example, Bono (the fastest) and Larry (the slowest) would take 10 minutes to cross. How can U2 make the concert on time, if it starts in 17 minutes.

This problem is very easy once it hits you. What you don't realize is once a person is across you forget about them when you will use them later in the problem. so if bono and edge croos it will take 2 min. then bono comes back (which is one minute). Then Adam and Larry cross which is 10 min. Now you bring Edge back into the picture because edge will now come back 1 min. finally bono and edge cross which is 2 min. If you add them up ( 2 plus 1 plus 10 plus 2 plus 2) you will get 17. Most people will think once they across they will forget about them when you can ud=se them.

ps or they can get rid of one person (if you know what I mean and then cross but then the concert would be missing some parts ( ; <3)
